The red envelope is a symbolic gift often exchanged during celebrations, including Lunar New Year, weddings, and birthdays. It is typically filled with crisp, new dollars, wishing prosperity to those who receive it. Many contemporary envelope designs are mass-produced by anonymous artists—however, today the artist is you! Led by NYC-based artist Jenny Acosta (that’s me!), this lighthearted exercise will attempt to reclaim creative ownership of the traditional Chinese red envelopes and remix them with your contemporary perspective. Participants will learn basic techniques of linoleum carving, peruse through art/history books reference material to get inspired for their designs, and make their printed editions in class, embossed in silver and gold.

The Guest who purchases this workshop is responsible for the cost of the private location, table & seating options, and electric power sources that the artist and her team will travel to teach at. The artist will handle staffing, labor costs, and basic event decor design (unless the guest would like to collaborate!)
